Summer is here!

Summer is here and the water temps just keeps rising with the number of swimmers, surfers and the general beach population as things start to heat up around this beautiful coastline.
Derek
Hynd and rising local super star Julian Wilson have joined forces to
raise money for breast cancer. Kicking off with the “Julian’s Family Fun
Day” Grommets come on down for a day to remember, Derek and Julian will
be running different forms of competition on the day based on style,
expression and pure fun in the water!! With the
“No losers here”
approach it’s a great day for family’s to come down get in the water and
have some fun. Loads of prizes to give away, there will also be a
treasure hunt for the little ones! Everyone is encouraged to wear pink
as all money raised goes to Breast Cancer Foundation. The surf comp is
opened to under 18yrs both male and females. Meet at Coolum Boardriders
club from 7am.The fun will continue from 130 to 10pm with music and
films over at the soccer fields. Tickets are $35 and available from
North Shore Realty. Headlining acts include Ash Grunwald,
Band of Frequencies, John Steel Singers, Paul Greene and plenty more
quality bands. So come on down and have some fun and support this great

Coolum Surfing School is calling all females to come and learn to surf. Rip Curl have sponsored this event for 21yrs now and this year is set to be another great weekend. This is a learn to surf lesson aimed at all beginners and non-surfers, its to encourage women and girls to learn to surf, get active and get in the water. The lessons are run on both Sat 27th and Sunday 28th Nov. The cost is $50 and includes all equipment and all particpants recieve a Rip Curl singlet and show bag full of goodies. Beach safety question
Q: How do you identify a safe shallow sandbank?
A: Look for wide parallel breaking waves, continuing to shore.
